PR Coordinator (Junior)

How you will make a difference

The PR Coordinator supports the delivery of public relations and media initiatives for our clients. This role assists with the creation, coordination and distribution of content while helping connect our clients to reporters and publications to increase brand awareness, strengthen reputation and expand media exposure. Working closely with the communications team, the Coordinator contributes to content creation, research, media outreach and campaign execution while developing strong skills in public relations, media strategy and digital communications.

What you will be doing

Public Relations and Media Support

  • Assist with building and maintaining media contact lists and identifying potential media opportunities.
  • Support the preparation and distribution of press releases, pitches and media materials.
  • Help coordinate media outreach activities and respond to basic media inquiries under team guidance.
  • Assist with organizing events including press conferences, media tours, exhibitions and community events.
  • Research speaking opportunities, awards and sponsorship opportunities for clients.
  • Support the preparation of publicity materials including brochures, handouts, photos and promotional assets.
  • Assist with coordinating photo opportunities and gathering materials for media coverage.

Brand and Communications Support

  • Assist with maintaining and updating client content calendars.
  • Support the development and scheduling of social and digital content aligned with client goals.
  • Ensure written and visual materials reflect client brand voice and communication standards.
  • Collaborate with the team on creative concepts, campaign ideas and communication initiatives.

Research

  • Conduct background research to support media strategies and client campaigns.
  • Monitor media coverage and track relevant industry news and trends.
  • Assist with building media lists and compiling research materials for the communications team.

Content Creation

  • Assist in drafting and editing written materials including press releases, pitch emails, articles, newsletters and social media content.
  • Support the creation of content for client communications including blogs, social media posts and digital materials.
  • Proofread and edit content to ensure accuracy, clarity and alignment with brand voice.
  • Assist with preparing materials such as fact sheets, Q&A documents and briefing notes.

Metrics and Analytics

  • Track media coverage and compile monthly reporting data.
  • Assist with monitoring engagement metrics across media and digital platforms.
  • Support the team in preparing performance reports and identifying trends in audience engagement.

Project Coordination

  • Support timelines for client projects and assist with coordinating deliverables.
  • Communicate updates on assigned tasks and flag potential issues affecting deadlines.
  • Track hours by client and project using internal systems.
  • Assist with maintaining project documentation and campaign materials.

What we require

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, English, Journalism, Marketing, Communications or another related field.
  • 0–2 years of experience in public relations, communications, journalism or digital marketing, including internships or co-op placements.

Skills for success

  • Familiarity with tools such as ASANA, Agility PR or Meltwater, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress and HubSpot is considered an asset.
  • Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment.
  • Curiosity and eagerness to learn about public relations, media relations and digital communications.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Creative thinking and a willingness to contribute new ideas.
  • Ability to accept feedback and continuously improve work.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity and accountability.
  • Strong verbal and written English language skills.
