You’re finally done. You stayed on task and wrote an amazing blogon a really timely topic. You did everything right – wrote a buzzworthy title, made perfect subheadings, SEO’d the heck out of it, used superb quality images, liked everything, and of course, added some on point gifs.
Problem is – no one is actually reading it – what gives?
To start, there could be a few contributing factors here. Maybe your website doesn’t actually get that much traffic or perhaps it isn’t very mobile friendly. No matter the reason there are always ways of getting people to read that blog you put your blood, sweat and tears into.
Get Social.
“The easier you make it for people to share your content with their network, the more likely they are to do so.”
Adding social media buttons to your post make it easy for a reader to click, click, click away your content onto their own social sites.
We highly recommend Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.
If your posts are more image and tutorial friendly, consider Pinterest and Instagram.
Spread the Love.
Reference your own posts AND those of others. Follow the motto “give and you shall receive”, and you will be surprised how friendly the internet can be! Typically, when a blogger posts something, they get a Google Alert when something happens with their content. We are willing to bet next Monday’s coffee that the blogger will at the very least like your post, or share it with their own network. It doesn’t hurt to create these friendly relations!
Fix Your Website.
Incorporate great design into your website. Sites that use default templates or look like they were made with Steve Job’s first computer won’t get you the positive attention you want. Fewer or short page visits will lead to less shares and likes, regardless of how killer your content may be. Invest in a good website that is set up by a professional and watch your following grow.
Subscribe
You don’t want people to read your blog once and then disappear into the night, right? Make it easy for them to come back by creating an email subscription button. Allow your readers to be notified when you post an update or any new content and the recurring traffic will increase. Don’t forget to check on these subscribers though! Research if they’re clicking posts, and if so what are they clicking on. This information will help you see what’s doing well on your page and what needs improvement.
